Modesty for Girls

Ah, modesty.  I feel like Billy Joel when he sings "Honesty".  "Modesty is such a lonely word..."How can we apply Biblical modesty to our lives as women of all ages?

Let's see what God has to say about modesty, and what the lack thereof causes.

"Do not love the world, or anything in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For everything in the world - the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does - comes not from the Father but from the world.  The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the Will of God lives forever."  1st John 2:15-17

"You have heard that it was said,'Do not commit adultery.'.  But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."  Matthew 5:27-28

Do we want to cause men of all ages to sin by lusting after us?

"Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come.  It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.  So watch yourselves. If your brother sins rebuke him, if he repents, forgive him."  Luke17:2-3

Does what we wear cause men to sin by lusting after us?  We've seen that lust practically is adultery.  Why would we want to look sexy, when it would be better for a millstone to be tied around your neck and to be thrown into the sea?

"I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God."
1 Timothy 2:9-10

Now, does this mean that we can't braid our hair or wear nice clothes?  Or jewelry?  Of course not; we have to look at this verse in context, as we should with all the Bible.

In my Bible's notes, it says that in verse 9, this wasn't a total ban of these things.  "Paul was expressing caution in a society where such things were signs of extravagant luxury and proud personal display." - The NIV Study Bible, Zondervan 1985 version.

So let's do the modesty test.  Next time you walk into your closet, think about pleasing God, rather than pleasing men.

1.  Does this show cleavage?
2.  Is this too tight?
3.  What is my motive for wearing this?
4.  Could I wear this in front of Jesus without being ashamed?
5.  Is this too short?
6.  Would this make my brothers in Christ stumble?

Why would we want to practically give our purity away by what we wear?  Why would we want to compromise?

"Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace."
Psalm 144:12

Do we want to be like pillars to adorn a palace, or do we want to dress trashily?

We should concentrate less on what we wear, and more on serving The Lord, and being who He wants us to be.

"You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God?  Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God."  James 4:4

My ending verse is what we should ALL do, not just you, but me too.

"Rather, clothe yourselves with The Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature."  Romans 13:14

I love my Youth Group.

My youth group is really special.  We have about 10 kids in there, and it is amazing what we have learned.  I love all of my friends in the Youth Group like family.  We have grown to actually BE family, with strong bonds connecting us.  We read the Bible and Its Truths while praying and strengthening each other.  I love it so much.

Being Crude is Unbiblical

How many times have I wanted to do the ultimate facepalm when I hear someone taking crudely?
Far too many times.

In the Bible, it says "But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.  Nor should there be any obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving."  Ephesians 5:3-4

So how can we apply this to our lives?  Easily.  Don't watch shows or movies with porn.  Don't lust.  Don't be irreverent, or foolish when you talk.  Don't talk about things which should be kept private, or any excremental bodily function.  Why do we let nasty things come out of our mouths?  Why do we compromise?  "Out of the same mouth come both blessing and cursing.  My brothers, this should not be.  Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?  My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs?  Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water."  James 3:11-12

One moment we praise His Name, and the next we're crude and obscene?  You watch TV shows and movies with porn and cuss words?

"You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God?  Anyone who chooses to be a friend to the world becomes an enemy of God.  Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the Spirit He caused to live in us envies intensely?  But He gives us more grace.  That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."  Submit yourselves, then, to God.  Resist the
devil and he will flee from you.  Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.  Grieve, mourn and wail.  Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.  Humble yourselves before The Lord, and He will lift you up."
James 4:4-10

It is so easy to fall into the trap of not caring what comes out of your mouth, or what you do.

Here are ten questions you need to ask yourself before you think about talking crudely, or watching that worldly TB show:

1. Is this pure?
2. Is this uplifting?
3. Will this bring Glory to His Name?
4. Is this something I would say in front of an old lady?
5. Would Jesus be proud of me for saying this?
6. Is this a bedroom/bathroom joke?
7. Am I being holy?
8. Am I honoring my family if I say this?
9. Is this something that I will regret later?
10. Is this something that will make another person physically uncomfortable?

"But He Who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am Holy."  1st Peter 1:15-16

Definition of "worldly"

Worldly: of or pertaining to this world as contrasted with Heaven, spiritual life, etc.

Waiting

Waiting is hard.  It stinks.
But there is one person worth waiting for.
Your future-husband is worth waiting for.
Wait to give him the best of you.  Wait.  Don't try to find love in guys you know aren't good for you.  Wait.  It's not worth it to ruin your life for something temporary.  What you will have with your husband will be for your whole life.  Wait for him.  Don't fill up your life with empty shells of men.  Fill it with serving God.   HE is the One who will give you perfect Love until you are ready for the love that comes with meeting the one you were destined for.  Fill it with fun with your friends.  Serve people.  Volunteer, worship God with an instrument.  Make your life meaningful while you wait.  Don't waste your time with a guy that is not the one.  Waiting isn't easy. It's necessary.  HE will help you through it.  Pray about your relationships.  Talk to trusted people about them, and ask them to pray for you.  Prayer is powerful.  After all, we are taking to the God of everything.  The God who sent His Son to die on a cross for the entire world's sins.  Pray to HIM.  Ask HIM to guide your steps in who you choose.  He will help you through the waiting.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Philippians 4:6

"God will instruct me and teach me in the way I should go.  He will guide me with His eye."  Psalm 32:8

"I trust in The Lord with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding.  In all my ways I acknowledge Him and He directs my paths."  Proverbs 3:5-6

"Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."  Psalm 119:105

"Come to Me, all you who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."  Matthew 11:28-29

Put his name in place of the word "love".

"Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

#RWRS16

Two days ago, our Youth Group went to the Rock and Worship Roadshow in Lubbock.  It was awesome!  We had tons of fun with Snapchat on the way up, and when we got there, the place was PACKED.  Apparently there was approximately 13,000 people there!  We were in section 221, in the lowest row of the highest section.  The acoustics of the building were less than perfect, but whatever.  We had a hard time hearing Mandisa.  The bands were great!  It was fun just to be with my friends and dance around.  It was cool to hear God being praised, and to praise Him along with everyone else.  I felt very privileged to be able to go to a Christian concert, because some people in foreign countries can't do that.  However, Family Force 5 didn't seem Christian to me.  What little I could discern of the lyrics, none of them mentioned God in any way. My brother Joe spilled popcorn on some random guy.   But, overall, the concert was very fun.  Compassion International was the sponsor, and approximately 390 kids got sponsored!  After the concert we all went to Whataburger.  We pushed the tables together to make one huge table.  On the way home we listened to CDs that Ty'essa had bought at the concert.  I pulled a "Natalie" by spilling water on myself.

Being Dizzy is no Fun

So, I'm feeling very dizzy today, and here's why.

I have postural tachycardia syndrome, otherwise known as POTS.  It means I'm very dizzy, weak in the legs, and I'm very lightheaded.  It's really a pain, but it can be helped with lots of water, more sleep, exercise, and lots of salty foods.  It goes away with time.  Some people that have it have to be hospitalized, have leg braces, and be medicated.  Thankfully, I don't have to do any of that!

So, that's about it.  Please pray that it goes away soon!

Very Good Advice

My Cat Calvin

This is Calvin!  He will be Three years old on April ninth, I believe!  My Mom took Kat and I to the Pet Store after my cat Saphie died.  I love my Mom.  She wanted to cheer me up, so it was off to the pet shop!  I looked at all of them, and I realized that I wanted an Orange Tabby.  In one little cubby-looking thing, there were three cats sleeping next to each other.  I saw one with White paws, a White stomach, and a White face!  I told Mom that I wanted that one, and she said, "What about the all Orange one?"  So I asked the lady if I could hold that one, and she said yes.  She brought it out to me, and he was yawning! (heart melting at this point)  I held him, and he tried to climb up my shirt!  I thought that his fur looked like Calvin's hair from Calvin and Hobbes, so I named him Calvin.  I held him all the way home.  He lives at My Memommy amd Meadaddy's  house now, happily sclathing and jumping about.  I see him every couple of days!  He's awesome!
Today is the day that my entire youth group and I start reading the New Testament in a whole year!  I'm pretty excited about it!  The best part is, Macy is going to do it too!  I know that she's gonna love it!  Tomorrow, Dad is my date for Star Wars The Force Awakens!  And Mom is Joe's date!  We're going to the Alamo Drafthouse, the only dinner theater! They also do breakfast, and lunch!  They do quote-alongs, and cartoons on Saturday morning!  The building looks awesome!  Inside, there's a photobooth and Ms. PacMan machine that's free!  Hopefully, we'll be able to go to church this Sunday!  We haven't been able to go because of the snow and ice!  Also on Sunday, we're going to Lubbock for lunch with my Aunt Barbie, because she's 60 on the 4th!  I'm really excited about my Grace classes!  Journalism Club, and Blender 3D Animation! Journalism Club is really important!  We run the weekly paper!  With Blender 3D Animation, I have to bring the laptop!  Joe has a class where he needs the laptop too, so we're going to set up a place to meet and hand it off.  I'm so excited about Grace!  I love it so much!  Its starting in a couple of weeks, I think!  Happily,

Nat
